Raman Fibers

OFS Raman Fibers are specifically designed for applications where a high Raman gain efficiency is required. Both standard PM types are designed with a high index core and a small effective area which yields such a high Raman gain efficiency; the PM version employs an elliptical core.

With appropriate choice of pump wavelength, the standard Raman fiber can provide gain at any wavelength from 1200 to 1700 nm (PM spans from 1000 to 1700 nm). Additionally, it offers excellent bending performance and splicing properties, and low attenuation at the water peak.

Highly Non-Linear Fiber Modules

OFS Highly-Non-Linear Fiber combines a high non-linear coefficient with numerical small group velocity dispersion. The fiber design includes a high delta core, surrounded by a deeply depressed ring and doped with Fluorine. The HNLF is available in three versions: a zero dispersion slope version, a version with a slope of 0.019 ps/(nm²·km), and a PM version. All are available with wide range dispersion values.

Termination Fibers

Termination fiber is a coreless silica fiber. It is useful for eliminating back reflections from unused branches of a multi-port device as well as performing return loss measurement.

A termination of better than 65 dB is achieved by splicing approximately 0.25 meters of this fiber to the desired component. A fusion splice also provides higher reliability and long-term stability over conventional termination methods.

There is excellent repeatability since there is no potential for subsurface damage, fiber breakage, or fiber contamination as with polished or angled cleaves.
